Your domain, your choice
Every Got Moosed site needs a domain name. There are two ways to handle it, and both end at the same place: your site live, on our servers, with us handling the technical side.
Option A: Use a domain you already own
You keep full ownership and control of your domain at your current registrar. We never ask for your account login, ever. You make one small change yourself, following these steps, and we confirm from our side when it takes effect:
- Sign in at your domain registrar (wherever you bought the domain).
- Open the domain's DNS settings.
- Add or edit the A record for the root of the domain (shown as
@or blank) and set its value to the server address we email you at launch time. - Add the same A record for
www, pointing at the same address. - Tell us it is done (reply to the launch email). We verify the change, issue your security certificate, and your site goes live at your domain.
DNS changes can take a few hours to spread across the internet. Your demo stays available the whole time, so nothing is ever offline.
Option B: We set the domain up for you
Pick the name you want and confirm the exact spelling and price with us before anything is registered. We register it, configure everything, and manage it for you as part of your service. If you ever leave, the name can be transferred to you: transfer-out is priced at one and a half times the researched transfer cost, quoted to you in writing before anything moves. Your name is never held hostage.
Cancelling, and your files
You may cancel service at any time. On cancellation you can download your site's files and database: we package the export and deliver it to you. Once the export has been packaged and delivered, we offer no support on the exported copy. Nothing is deleted in anger or by accident on our side; a cancelled site's hosting simply ends, and the export is your copy to take anywhere.
What we never do
We never ask for your registrar, email, or banking logins. We never need access to your accounts. Our access is limited to what we create on our own servers. Anyone claiming to be Got Moosed and asking for your password is not us.
